In Memoriam — Harvey Walter Pape

Harvey Walter Pape was born in New Braunfels, Texas, on September 24, 1932. He passed peacefully at home on April 29, 2024.

Harvey was a NALF member since 1975. He had many things he loved including his family, hunting and ranching. He was a graduate of New Braunfels High School class of 1951. He was an outstanding football player, lettering all four years. Harvey proudly served in the United States Navy. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1960 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education and received his Master’s Degree in 1961 also from Southwest Texas State.

Harvey worked for the Comal Independent School District for 31 years, first as a teacher then vice-principal and finally as the Assistant Superintendent in charge of Transportation, Food Service and Maintenance. He returned to CISD as a consultant twice after retirement. Harvey was a 32nd Degree Mason, a longtime member of the Elks Lodge and a regular at the Seguin Cattle Company.

Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Leora Ann Pape (Kablemacker); his brother, Weldon Pape & his wife, Marlene Pape; sister-in-law, Doreen Heitkamp & her husband, Harvey Lee Heitkamp. He is survived by his daughter, Zina Christine Pape-Dunfield & her husband, Richard Dunfield.
